Boston to Belfast participants recently welcomed professor Paul Pelan of Boston University for a talk on Northern Ireland and Belfast. The event was hosted at the Irish Pastoral Centre in Dorchester, Mass. Professor Pelan gave a brief overview of the history of Northern Ireland and its historical and current relationships with the Republic of Ireland, the rest of the UK, and the United States.
The educational talk helped provide our participants with important history, stressing the importance of viewing the troubled past from different perspectives, and keeping on open mind. Professor Pelan reinforced that participants should learn as much as possible, speak with the locals, and most especially, have fun.
